US and Israeli strikes on Iran's peaceful nuclear facilities have caused enormous damage to the international nuclear non-proliferation regime. This was stated by the President of the Islamic Republic, Masoud Pezeshkian, reports Focus.
Speaking at the summit of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in Minsk, President Masoud Pezeshkian said that the strikes by the United States and Israel against Iran's peaceful nuclear facilities constitute a gross violation of international law and cause irreparable damage to the nuclear non-proliferation regime, which is especially alarming, considering that one of the aggressors is a permanent member of the UN Security Council.
"On June 13, 2025, the Zionist regime (Israel) carried out a brutal attack and illegal terrorist and armed attacks against the Islamic Republic of Iran. "This aggression occurred during the process of indirect negotiations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America on Iran's peaceful nuclear program," he said in a video address to the participants in the expanded session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.
"During the strikes, peaceful nuclear facilities of Iran were attacked. The military attacks by the United States and the Zionist regime against peaceful nuclear facilities of Iran, which are under the full control of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), are a gross violation of all international rules and deal an irreparable blow to the status of the nuclear non-proliferation regime by a permanent member of the UN Security Council," Pezeshkian added.
On June 25, members of the Iranian parliament approved the text of a bill to suspend the Islamic Republic's cooperation with the IAEA. On June 26, Iran's Guardian Council approved the text of the bill. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi noted that the new law clarifies the framework for cooperation with the IAEA, but does not completely block the paths of interaction and leaves the decision on this issue to the discretion of Iran's Supreme National Security Council.
Israel launched a military operation against Iran on the night of June 13. Less than a day later, the Islamic Republic launched a counterattack. The United States entered the conflict nine days after its escalation: on the night of June 22, American forces attacked three Iranian nuclear facilities.
On the evening of June 23, Tehran launched a missile strike on the largest American air base in the Middle East - Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.
According to US authorities, there were no casualties and no significant damage was caused by the attack. Later, US President Donald Trump said that Israel and Iran had agreed to a complete ceasefire. The armistice officially came into effect on June 24.
