Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Koszyniak-Kamysz said that the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ) has reached its capacity to produce 250 million small-caliber ammunition per year, the Polish Press Agency (PAP) reported, quoted by BTA.
At a press conference held at the company's office in Warsaw yesterday, Koszyniak-Kamysz said that to ensure the safety of its citizens, Poland must achieve full sovereignty in the production and supply of defense equipment, including ammunition.
“We have reached a point where we are producing one million pieces of small-caliber ammunition per day, 250 million pieces per year“, he said. “This is five times more than we were producing even a few months ago“.
Koszyniak-Kamysz also announced plans to build more ammunition factories under the leadership of the Polish Armaments Group.
“Today we must focus all efforts and resources on...the construction of three ammunition factories within the Polish Armaments Group“, he said, adding that the state holding would not be able to meet the entire demand for ammunition for the Polish armed forces alone and invited private business to join the initiative.
