The authorities in the Yelabuga region of the Russian republic of Tatarstan have announced the cancellation of all mass events due to the increased number of attacks with Ukrainian drones. This was announced in an extraordinary video address by the head of the region, Rustem Nuriev, quoted by the BBC.
"Attempts to penetrate drones into the region are recorded almost daily. The enemy seeks to disrupt the activities of important production facilities and create tension among the population," Nuriev said.
As part of security measures, residents are urged to show understanding for the possible restriction of mobile internet in the region. The main priority, Nuriev stressed, is "the protection of the life and health of every resident of Elabuga".
The city of Elabuga and its surroundings are subject to regular drone attacks. According to Ukrainian military sources, the main target of the strikes is the "Alabuga" special economic zone, where a factory for the production of "Shahed" suicide drones is located. These devices are used by the Russian army in attacks on Ukrainian territory.
