Special equipment for Ukrainian F-16 fighters! The White House plans to send JASSM cruise missiles to Kiev

The administration of US President Donald Trump is considering the possibility of supplying Kiev with the first JASSM cruise missiles, Military Watch magazine reports, citing a well-informed source.

The missiles could be transferred to equip F-16 fighters, which are entering service with the Ukrainian Air Force. Despite the fact that Kiev receives outdated modifications of these aircraft, they can become effective carriers of JASSM when performing missions on its own territory, the publication states.

JASSM entered service with the United States in 2003. The missile has limited stealth, high targeting accuracy and can carry a warhead weighing up to 450 kg.

Now only four countries have this weapon, including Poland, which received 110 missiles for its F-16s. So far, the missiles have not been exported to countries outside the Western bloc.

As the publication notes, Ukraine previously adapted its Soviet-made fighters to use British and French Storm Shadow and SCALP cruise missiles. According to the magazine, the shortage of European missiles is one of the reasons why Kiev may receive JASSM from the United States to increase the combat capabilities of the F-16.

Earlier, Trump announced that he would make a major statement on Russia on Monday, but did not disclose its content. According to Axios, he may announce a new plan to supply weapons to Kiev, including offensive weapons, including long-range missiles.
