Prime Minister Robert Fico announced that Slovakia will approve the 18th package of EU sanctions against Russia on July 18, TASS news agency reported, quoted by FOCUS, citing Reuters.
Slovakia will not block the adoption of the 18th package of European sanctions against Russia on Friday. This was confirmed by the country's Prime Minister Robert Fico.
"I have instructed our representatives in the European Union to clear the way for the 18th package of sanctions (against Russia -)“, Fico said in a video message posted on his Facebook page on Thursday.
He noted that continuing to block new sanctions against Russia would be counterproductive in the context of negotiations with the European Commission on energy resources.
We recall that earlier the Slovak Prime Minister once again blocked the EU package of sanctions against Russia. As a reason for this, he cited the need for guarantees that Slovakia will have the right to buy Russian gas until the expiration of the contract with Gazprom in 2034.
