Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Communications Directorate of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey reported. The two discussed bilateral relations, as well as regional and global issues, BTA reports.
Erdogan noted that the withdrawal of Syrian security forces from the southern Syrian city of Sweida and the clashes that followed pose a threat. He stated that Israel should not violate Syria's sovereignty. The Turkish president emphasized that his country's goal is the restoration of Syria as soon as possible, as well as the establishment of stability and security.
At the same time, Erdogan and Putin also discussed the third round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, in which Turkey is a mediator. The Turkish president has stated that holding a third round of negotiations is extremely important, and that he expects representatives of Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul.
