US President Donald Trump announced that he would impose a 25% tariff on imports from India, effective August 1, 2025, Reuters reports.
On the Truth Social social network, Trump indicated that India is a friend of the United States, but noted that its tariffs on American goods are too high.
According to him, India buys military equipment and oil from Russia, which allows Moscow to continue its offensive in Ukraine.
He explained that in this regard he intends to impose an additional sanction as part of the introduction of the administration's revised tariffs on multiple countries.
