At least 8 people have died and rescuers are still searching for 4 more people who are missing after a flash flood swept away free campers last night in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in northern China, local authorities announced this morning, quoted by the Xinhua news agency, BTA reported.
The disaster occurred at around 10:00 p.m. local time last night in the upper reaches of a river in the area of the Chinese city of Bayanur. The flash flood swept away a total of 13 people who were camping in conditions of so-called wild camping.
At 10 a.m. this morning, local Chinese authorities announced that only one person had been rescued so far. Authorities confirmed 8 deaths, and four are still missing.
