Russia has the opportunity to develop its military-industrial complex and we must prepare for a long-term war. This was stated by Ukrainian military serviceman and former people's deputy Igor Lutsenko on Radio NV, UNIAN agency reported.
„Most likely, we will have to fight for quite a long time. That is, we see that these 3.5 years have flown by very quickly. Many things have changed, but there is no end. And there is no end, for example, to Russia's economic capabilities to develop its military-industrial complex, to hire mercenaries, etc. That is, Russia, in essence, has not yet started the war. In the sense that they have made only one attempt at limited mobilization and so far they have only managed to deal with mercenaries,” he said.
Therefore, according to Lutsenko, Russia is spending resources to pay for this war and not burden its own population with any mobilization obligations.
“If things continue like this, maybe [the military actions] will last for decades. There are examples of military conflicts that last a very long time,“ he said.
According to him, Ukrainians need to adapt to a long war, because the military actions will continue. Lutsenko said that war is the political desire of the entire Russian nation, it will be carried out by one government or another, not even Putin, but perhaps even his successor.
“We need to survive as a state, and not just delegate our best people to the army and wait for something to happen. No, we need rotation,” said Lutsenko, according to whom Ukraine should take measures for a long-term war, not a short one.
