Russia: NATO troops should not be deployed in Ukraine - 1

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov praised US efforts to achieve peace in Ukraine, describing the Russian-American summit in Alaska as "significant and necessary", Reuters reported, BTA reported.

However, Peskov told the media that Moscow views European proposals for security guarantees for Kiev negatively. He reiterated Russia's long-standing position that NATO troops should not be deployed in Ukraine.

Currently, active preparations are underway for "unprecedented" Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to China, Peskov added.

In addition to Putin, more than 20 world leaders are expected to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit on August 31 and September 1, Reuters notes.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said earlier today that the time has come to organize talks between leaders on key priorities and deadlines for security guarantees, Reuters reported.

"Military commanders, defense ministers and security advisers - we are preparing the components of future security at different levels. "We are accelerating the process of specifying the details," Zelensky wrote in "Ex".

The Ukrainian president also said that due to Russian attacks last night, more than 100,000 consumers in three regions were left without electricity.

"Unfortunately, energy facilities were hit. The attack led to a power outage in Poltava, Sumy and Chernihiv regions," he added.
