Russia has hit a Turkish factory near the Ukrainian capital Kiev, Ukrainian and Turkish media reported.

According to the information disseminated, the Bayraktar drone manufacturing plant near Kiev was hit on the night of August 28. Two Russian missiles hit the building.

This was announced by the deputy of the Lviv city council Igor Zinkevich, who said that two direct hits were recorded, and the production facilities "suffered serious damage". The deputy noted that this is already the fourth strike on the factory in the last six months.

The Turkish publication Türkiye Gazetesi also reported on the attack on the factory.

The Bayraktar factory is located in the Kiev region, in the immediate vicinity of Kiev. Its construction began in February 2024, is being carried out by the Turkish company “Baykar“, and was initially expected to be completed in 12 months. The annual production capacity of the enterprise will be about 120 drones.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that he had a telephone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. “We exchanged views on the current situation and discussed the next diplomatic steps. Ukraine is ready to talk in the format of leaders, because this is the only effective format. And, unfortunately, it is Russia that avoids this and continues the war“, Zelensky wrote.

Referring to the night attack of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, the president noted that “there were strikes on a Turkish enterprise, on the Azerbaijani embassy, the EU delegation, the British Council, on residential areas“. Russia has carried out another large-scale attack with missiles and drones, among the victims are children.

The number of people killed in the Russian airstrike on Kiev has increased to 19 people tonight. About ten people may still be trapped under the rubble, Ukrinform reported, citing a message from the head of the Kiev city military administration Timur Tkachenko on the Telegram application, BTA reported.

“Nineteen dead. Search and rescue operations at the scene of the attack in the Darnytskyi district are continuing“, he wrote. The mayor of the Ukrainian capital, Vitali Klitschko, specified on Telegram that four children were among the victims. So far, 63 people are known to have been injured, including 11 children. Thirty-five injured people have been admitted to hospitals for treatment, including six children.
