Mossad's long arm! Eight people arrested in Iran on suspicion of links to Israeli spy agency - 1

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on Monday it had arrested eight people suspected of trying to pass the coordinates of sensitive sites and details of senior military figures to Israel's Mossad intelligence agency, Iranian media reported, quoted by Reuters, BTA reports.

The detainees are accused of providing information to Mossad during Israel's air war against Iran in June, when Israel attacked Iranian nuclear facilities and killed senior military commanders as well as civilians, in the heaviest blow to the Islamic Republic since the war with Iraq in the 1980s. Iran responded with missile strikes on Israeli military sites, infrastructure and cities. The US joined the military action on June 22, striking Iranian nuclear facilities.

A statement from the Revolutionary Guards claimed that the suspects had received specialized training from Mossad through online platforms. It said they were detained in northeastern Iran before they could carry out their plans, and that materials for making launchers, bombs, explosives and camouflage for explosive devices had been seized.

State media reported earlier this month that Iranian police had arrested 21,000 "suspects" during the 12-day war with Israel, although they do not specify what the individuals were suspected of.

In recent months, Iran has executed at least eight people, including nuclear scientist Rouzbeh Vadi, hanged on August 9 for passing information to Israel about another scientist killed in Israeli airstrikes.
