From 2026, Turkey will begin mass production of hypersonic ballistic missiles of the “Tayfun Block-4“ type, announced Murat Ikinci, director of the Turkish arms company “Roketsan” (Roketsan) during a panel discussion in Ankara, the website „Türkiye Today“ reported today.
The „Typhoon Block-4“ missile, which is 10 meters long and weighs 7,200 kilograms, was presented for the first time during the International Defense Industry Exhibition (IDEF 2025) in Istanbul, which was held at the end of last month.
According to Ikinci's words during the discussion, which was held on August 29 in the Turkish capital Ankara and brought together the directors of the main companies that produce defense equipment in Turkey, the first test launches of the „Typhoon Block-4“ missile will be made by the end of the year, and mass production of ballistic missiles of this type will begin in 2026.
„The „Typhoon“ family will expand even further – depending on the goals, needs and configuration of the different systems“, Ikinci said during the event, emphasizing that missiles of the same series are already being mass-produced and are currently being delivered to the Turkish army.
