The European Union has strengthened protection against GPS jamming. This was stated by the European Commissioner for Defense Andrew Kubilius, quoted by Reuters.
He indicated that it is planned to deploy additional satellites in low Earth orbit to prevent interference with GPS systems and improve the possibilities for their detection.
His comment comes after the incident in which the GPS system on board the plane of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen was jammed on its way to Bulgaria. The leading version of the incident is a Russian hacker attack.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was categorical that Russia had nothing to do with what happened.
