Europe has failed in its response to the conflict in the Gaza Strip, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said, quoted by PA Media and DPA.
Sanchez said this in an interview with the "Guardian" newspaper before a meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in London.
The Spanish Prime Minister told the British publication that the conflict in Gaza is "one of the darkest pages of international relations in the 21st century".
"It is a failure. Absolutely. "Also, the reality is that within the EU there is a division between countries on how to influence Israel," Sanchez said.
"I think it is unacceptable and that we cannot delay any longer if we want to increase our credibility when it comes to other crises, such as the one in Ukraine," the Spanish leader explained.
On Monday, British Foreign Secretary David Lammy told the British parliament that the United Kingdom still plans to recognize a Palestinian state this month, like Spain and other European countries.
