Russia announced the expulsion of Estonian diplomat Marek Juhtegi. The decision comes as a retaliatory measure to the earlier expulsion of Dmitry Prilepin - first secretary at the Russian embassy in Tallinn, reports News.bg.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, Prilepin was declared “persona non grata“ in Estonia “without any grounds“. Moscow has delivered a “strong protest“ to the Estonian diplomatic mission and stressed that Tallinn's actions will not go unanswered.
“Based on the principle of reciprocity, an employee of the Estonian embassy in Moscow will be expelled. The Estonian side was informed that any "hostile actions will not remain without consequences," the ministry said.
The Russian diplomat was ordered to leave Estonia on August 13 over allegations that he had undermined the country's constitutional order and legal system, sowed division in society and facilitated crimes against the state.
