Last night's violation of Polish airspace by Russia is the most serious since the beginning of the war and there are signs that it was deliberate, not accidental. This was stated by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas on the social network "Ex", BTA reports.
Kallas reports that she is in contact with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and Polish Deputy Prime Minister Radoslaw Sikorski. The EU sympathizes with Poland. Russia's war is intensifying, not ending. We must raise the price for Moscow, increase support for Ukraine and invest in European defense, she urges. Kallas expressed support for the development of a defensive line along the eastern European borders.
The President of the European Council Antonio Costa wrote on the same social network that last night's events are a clear reminder that the security of one is linked to the security of others. He defined the violation of Polish airspace as unacceptable. Costa stated that Russia irresponsibly violates the airspace of EU countries and poses a direct threat to all Europeans and to Europe's key infrastructure. Poland has the right to take the necessary steps to protect its sovereignty, the peace and security of Europe cannot be taken for granted, he added.
The President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen wrote that the violation of Polish airspace was irresponsible and was carried out by more than 10 Russian "Shahed" drones.
