North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has confirmed the status of his daughter Kim Chu-ae as the successor to the highest post in the country, South Korean lawmakers told Reuters, citing South Korean intelligence, BTA reported.
This happened during the visit of the North Korean supreme leader to China for the military parade in Beijing on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the victory over Japan in World War II, the agency said. Kim Jong-un was accompanied by his daughter at the time.
Chuch-ae remained in the building of the DPRK embassy in China and did not make any public appearances, but the fact that she was with her father on this trip is "enough to be called" successor to the regime's leader, said Lee Song-gyu, a member of the South Korean parliament's intelligence committee.
"It seems that Kim Jae-woo's status as a likely successor to her father's post has been solidified, giving her the opportunity to gain international experience without showing off," said another lawmaker on the intelligence committee, Park Song-won.
In addition, North Korean officials were seen erasing all traces of Kim and his daughter's visit to China to ensure that no DNA from the two remained. The erasure included taking away the trash from their rooms by special plane, according to a South Korean intelligence report presented to parliamentarians.
