At the AvtoVAZ press conference held on January 15, the production version of the Lada Niva Sport was presented. Production of the new SUVs has already begun, and the Niva Sport will go on sale in the very near future.
Externally, the car is distinguished by original fender and hood air intake trim, new roof rails, as well as additional LED strips placed on the bumper. The chrome has been replaced by matte black.
In the cabin, attention is drawn to the transmission control scheme with two levers (like in the Niva Travel) instead of three levers. The interior has red accents. The steering column angle has been changed and there is no longer that slight offset from the center of the seat, which is typical of the regular Niva.
The Niva Sport will go on sale with three doors and a 1.6-liter engine with a capacity of 122 horsepower. Assembly has already begun. Prices are not mentioned, but Russian colleagues speculate at the amount of 1.7 million rubles, which is about 16,000 euros.
Under the hood of the three-door Niva Sport there is a 1.6 16V engine, which produces 122 hp and 151 Nm of torque. Unlike the Granta, under the hood of the Niva Sport it is located longitudinally and is connected to the standard manual gearbox from the Niva, which has been modified in the Lada Sport division and is now less noisy and vibrated. Reinforced fifth gear gears, a reinforced clutch housing and a single-lever gearbox drive have been used.
The suspension has also been changed: instead of the classic Panhard rod, there are four transverse links at the rear, which eliminates axle pull when cornering. Disc brakes - on all wheels. The Niva Sport production technology involves the delivery of a painted body from AvtoVAZ to the Lada Sport assembly line and further individual assembly. The Niva Sport will go on sale in 2025.
