Russian companies and branches dominate in Kazakhstan among foreign companies. In the first half of 2025, Russian companies numbered 23,112, or 37% of all legal entities with foreign participation, according to data from the National Statistics Bureau of Kazakhstan.
According to the Bureau, this year about half of Russian companies in Kazakhstan are engaged in wholesale and retail trade (9,845 companies), with Kazakhstan in second place in the number of companies operating in the field of information and communications (2,900 companies), and in third place - in the field of professional and scientific activities (2,044 companies). Over 1,200 companies with Russian participation are engaged in construction in Kazakhstan, 845 work in the processing industry, 127 - in the mining industry.
In second place after the Russian Federation in the number of companies opened in Kazakhstan is Uzbekistan: as of July 1, 6,938 of its companies and branches were registered, and China is in third place with 6,272 companies. Also, over 5,000 companies with Turkish capital, about 3,000 Kyrgyz companies, about 1,000 companies from Belarus, and 719 companies with the participation of founders from the United States are registered in the republic.
