"Today we pay tribute to the political maturity of our ancestors, who declared Bulgaria an independent state. After 1908, our people have proven many times that they have both the will and the strength to determine their own future," wrote the President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev on his Facebook profile.
"But Independence is not just a historical date, but a lesson in statesmanship that we must follow today. It is naive and dangerous to expect someone else to solve our problems and defend our national interests. We are obliged to monitor and insist that institutions fulfill the will of the people. To assert our democratic rights," he added.
Independence means being sovereign in our relations with the world and free in the expression of our democratic will. Let us defend these rights from any encroachment. Our success is possible only if in Bulgaria law is synonymous with justice, and the Constitution and laws stand above any political gain.
