During repair work between the Dralfa and Targovishte stations, 15 employees from the Railway Section – Shumen at the State Enterprise „ NRIC” were caught stealing fruit from a private apple orchard next to the railway line.
The son of the injured owner of the orchard informed about the case, who told in detail about the brazen acts during work by the railway workers on social networks.
The Minister of Transport and Communications – Grozdan Karadjov immediately responded to the signal and came up with a post on Facebook, revealing details and stating that a detailed inspection of the act will be carried out.
Here is what Minister Karadjov wrote:
Today I received a disturbing signal about extremely unacceptable behavior by employees of the National Railway Infrastructure Company. During repair work between the Dralfa and Targovishte stations, 15 employees from the Railway Section - Shumen were caught stealing fruit from a private apple orchard next to the railway line.
I ordered an immediate inspection by the management of the National Railway Infrastructure Company. All 15 employees involved have already been identified. On Monday, they will give written explanations, and then the most severe disciplinary sanctions will be imposed on them.
Such behavior undermines trust in institutions and undermines the efforts of all who work honestly in the system. I do not accept this as a “minor irregularity“ – I accept it as a serious violation of professional ethics and people's trust.
The law applies to everyone – without exception.
I thank the citizens who filed the report. Only with intolerance for such acts can we build institutions that people trust.
In the meantime, I contacted Mr. Teodor Valchev, who was the first to tell about the incident, and apologized to him on behalf of the institution. I also received the phone number of his father – the person who filed the report – and tomorrow I will personally call him to apologize for the indecent and illegal actions of our employees.
