All five defendants in the case of “Blagomir Kotsev“ have already familiarized themselves with the materials on the indictment. The investigation against the detained Varna mayor and municipal councilors has ended, bTV reported.
Their lawyers have requested that the case be dismissed and the preventive measures lifted.
The lawyers of Yordan Kateliyev and Nikolay Stefanov are adamant that the charges against them should be dropped. Together with the detained mayor Blagomir Kotsev, his media advisor Antoaneta Petrova and a businessman are accused of participating in a criminal association.
“He has been brought in as a defendant for having requested a bribe together with Kotsev and Stefanov…in connection with a specific public procurement. Which you realize is nonsense, especially considering the public procurement procedure, the time it was conducted and the fact that it was won by the candidate who requested the lowest price“, said attorney Ivaylo Kostov from Yordan Kateliyev's defense.
“I will also ask the prosecutor's office to rule on his house arrest measure. I do not believe that it is adequate at the moment. That is why I hope that in the near future he will be able to fully fulfill his duties“, said attorney Dilyana Agova from Nikolay Stefanov's defense.
