We have the ambition to have the budget adopted by the end of this calendar year. This was told to journalists by Prof. Kostadin Angelov, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Health, after its meeting, BTA reports.
In his words, this budget is "coalition" and the only possible one. I ask everyone for sufficient reason, patience and a sense of national responsibility, because any escalation of tension does not work for Bulgaria, especially in the recent political situations that are developing between the great powers – something that is worrying for all of us, added Angelov.
This budget will certainly not be liked by everyone, but I expect reason to prevail, said Kostadin Angelov. This year is like that, Bulgaria is entering the eurozone, this is the first budget in euros and everyone must show maximum understanding and patience so that we can go through this transition. Any shock that could happen will be used by the parties that are opponents of the euro and will give them "fuel" in their positions, so we want to preserve social peace and give confidence to citizens that this transition is intended to pass smoothly and the interests of every person to be protected, he said.
The perfect budget for GERB is in a situation where GERB has 121 members of parliament, Angelov said. This budget is the only possible one that can be presented, and it reflects all financial realities, all laws and their implementation, as well as political realities as they are at the moment, so that we can guarantee the financial stability of the state and political stability. The claims that this budget is only related to social payments are not true, he said, pointing out that the largest amount is for infrastructure projects and investments, followed by funds for pensioners, and in third place are payments related to salaries, for which the state is responsible. In his words, this is a budget that ensures economic growth and investments in the economy in our country.
The first step has been taken – the dialogue has been restored, both between unions and employers, with the Council of Ministers, said Angelov, who expressed his expectations that a meeting of the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation will be held this week and then a draft budget will be submitted to the National Assembly.
Earlier today, the presidents of the Confederation of Bulgarian Trade Unions and the Confederation of Bulgarian Trade Unions – Plamen Dimitrov and Dimitar Manolov, met with the leadership of GERB in connection with the draft budget for 2026. After the meeting, the deputy chairwoman of the GERB-SDF parliamentary group, Denitsa Sacheva, said that there is nothing in the budget that is consensual between employers and unions, and that at this stage there are no changes in the parameters of the budget that can be announced.
On November 5, the scheduled meeting of the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation did not take place, as representatives of employer organizations refused to enter and declared themselves against the parameters in the draft state budget.
