Elenko Bozhkov: The government is making sure that the "Magnitsky" coalition benefits from the sanctions on "Lukoil" - 1

"Anyone who understands law will expect to have a veto over this law. It was mandatory to have a veto!"

This was stated to the Bulgarian National Radio by Elenko Bozhkov, an energy expert and former acting deputy minister of energy, about President Radev's veto on the legal changes affecting the status of the special commercial manager of "Lukoil".

He pointed out that the law "has nothing to do with European law" and compared it to a similar law already in force in Germany, highlighting "major differences that make ours illegal".

"The main differences from the German law - there is no restrictive list of the powers of this special commercial manager, unlike the German one. The rights are not spelled out, he is not explicitly prohibited from disposing of assets.

There is no supervisory body to exercise control. How is it that in Germany there is such a supervisory body, but here there is none? Why is there no judicial control over the actions of the special commercial manager? Why is there no limited term? Why has the limitation of three managers been removed?

The answer is very simple. The government is taking care to enable the "Magnitsky" coalition, of which it is a part, to abuse and benefit from this sanction action on "Lukoil". Things are so transparent and clear!", commented Elenko Bozhkov on the "12+3" program.

The expert refused to "prophesy" what would happen on the fuel market if we were denied a derogation from the sanctions, because he cannot say "encouraging assumptions".
