Todor Tagarev: The sale of the government's "Falcon" is a PR trick of the ruling party - 1

In an interview with bTV, former Defense Minister Todor Tagarev compared the US peace plan to end the war in Ukraine to what the Treaty of Neuilly was for Bulgaria.

"What is clear at the moment is that Ukraine is being treated as a country that lost the war. This is being done through the head of Ukraine and without any coordination and information from the EU. If such a plan is adopted, it will certainly deal a very serious blow to Ukraine's sovereignty, international law and will undermine European security for years to come," he added.

"No one is asking Ukraine anymore what it wants and what it doesn't want. Europe, despite its efforts to be part of this process, simply no one asks it either", agreed on this point with his colleague, the chairman of the VMRO Krasimir Karakachanov.

"Practice shows that the great powers on both sides of the barrier sit down and negotiate. We are observing this. Trump is negotiating with his Russian counterpart Putin. We see that Trump wants to do business with Russia. He is trying to at least distance it from its close ties with China. The Russians are also interested in breaking away from the Chinese orbit. According to this project, Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk regions remain Russian, the border runs along the other two regions in Zaporozhye and Kherson, where the front line is. There is a limitation of Ukrainian military forces. Also: refusal of long-range missiles, refusal of NATO membership. The only difference with Trump's previous proposal is that Trump was previously inclined to recognize only Crimea as part of Russian territory," he also commented.

The sale of the government “Falcon“

And according to the two former defense ministers, this move is nothing more than a PR trick by the ruling party.

"I personally have not used the "Falcon". The decision is a matter of assessing effectiveness-efficiency. In Bulgaria, we are not very good at calculating efficiency. Here I agree that this is a pure PR move - that we will sell it, and buy a helicopter for extinguishing fires - this is not serious," Tagarev expressed his opinion on the case.

"It is good for every normal country to have one government plane to use if necessary. I can't say exactly about the "Falcon". I used it once for a meeting in Bucharest, which was literally organized from today to today. The fact that they will sell it is a cheap PR move, with which they talk about how they are unloading the taxpayer. At the same time, the budget has allocated 2 billion leva for an 8-kilometer section of the Sofia Ring Road. So there are no savings at all," Karakachanov commented in turn.
