The start of the construction of the National Children's Hospital is postponed to the second half of 2026. All deadlines in the schedule are indicative and have an organizational function. This was stated by the outgoing Minister of Health Silvi Kirilov in response to a question from PP-DB MP Vasil Pandov, reported by "Focus.".
According to Kirilov, while Burgas is already recruiting staff for its children's hospital, the national children's hospital has not yet announced the start of construction work, and the planned deadlines are being missed.
Pandov, for his part, recalls that the construction of the national children's hospital in Sofia was supposed to begin in March, and last year a procedure was held to select a designer and the contract with him was concluded in August 2025. "Instead, the procedure has not yet started, and public procurement is at the level of market consultations," he adds he.
We recall that last fall the company agreed with the RIA and the Sofia Municipality on how to distribute the tasks for the design and construction of the above-ground and underground infrastructure.
