Boyko Naydenov on Petrokhan: There will be no defendants, no court - 1

Former Minister of Interior Emanuil Yordanov stated on BNT about the tragedy in Petrokhan that in his opinion there should be a comprehensive approach to this case. "It is no coincidence that many people use the expression that such a murder has never happened in Bulgaria before. The strange thing, however, is that no one sees anyone leaving the leadership of the Ministry of Interior. It is at this moment that a person from the highest level should appear and explain to the public what can be said. There are cases in which you are obliged to come out and say what is happening. People are left in a mess for a week.", he also said.

"A large part of the facts can be established even with the first inspection – the time of death, the way the shooting was carried out, where exactly it happened, where the projectiles came from. The big lack is the lack of publicity, the lack of opinion, the lack of information to the public. What exactly investigative secrecy would have been violated if it had been said – these people were found here, the other three are missing and we are looking for them.", believes the former director of the National Investigation Service Boyko Naydenov.

"If we had informed the public and had sought help from the people, the second thing could have been prevented. We were lost in the fog for a week and in the end what did we find – six corpses.", Naydenov also said and added that there will be neither defendants nor a court in the case.

"You cannot talk like that about people who are no longer alive and cannot defend themselves. We have a massive attack on people who cannot answer, and at the same time their relatives appear, who say completely different things. The children remained the most unprotected - both during their lifetime and in the crime we are commenting on. ", commented Yordanov.

About the institutional shortcomings and control, Boyko Naydenov said: "Obviously someone did not work as they should have. Given that these people had firearms, it must be checked who gave permission and for what reasons. I cannot understand how no one was interested in what was happening in a hut in a remote place."

"There is a signal from two years ago, which was in the National Security Agency. It must be established who specifically did not do their job. I am against conspiracy theories. It's more about negligence and lack of control.", added Boyko Naydenov.

"Can anyone in this country be a teacher and educate children without control? How is it possible to organize camps and no one cares about what happens there? There are institutions that should protect the rights of children, and they haven't done so. We know almost nothing. But hopefully this case will at least unleash checks and real control.", Yordanov is categorical.

The investigation and expert reports are expected to provide more clarity on the case and show whether the institutions will take responsibility for the shortcomings.
