In a two-day operation, 25 people were detained in Sofia for drug distribution, the Ministry of Interior announced. The police operations were carried out on March 4 and 5 with the participation of officers from the "Narcotics" sectors of the Sofia Metropolitan Directorate of Internal Affairs, the "Criminal Police" at the regional departments, the "Specialized Police Forces" department and the "Cobra" sector.
The specialized police operation was also directed against local leaders, who are reported to be distributing drugs in separate neighborhoods. Various types of drugs and over 15 thousand euros were seized.
In one of the larger transactions, a dealer was detained at his home, as well as nine other people associated with drug distribution. A white powdery substance wrapped in paper, the amount of over 4,100 euros and two pistols with sawn barrels were found and seized at the address. A police measure was taken against the detainees for a period of up to 24 hours, and pre-trial proceedings were initiated.
Following operational information received, a car was stopped for inspection on "Rakovski" Street, and 15 polyethylene bags with a crystalline substance were found and seized in it - 50 grams of methamphetamine, 11 bags with a white substance in powder and lumps - 50 g of amphetamine, five bags with ecstasy tablets, 20 bags with marijuana - over 70 years old and a large amount of money. The driver, who is believed to be a dealer, was detained with a police measure for up to 24 hours, and after a report of the materials at the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office, he was charged and a measure of “detention in custody“ for up to 72 hours was taken.
On the same day, after receiving operational information at the Sixth District Department about a female driver of a car selling drugs on the territory of the capital, she was identified and stopped for inspection. During the search of the car, six polyethylene bags with a white powdery substance were found and seized. The test for driving after using drugs gave a positive result, and the 43-year-old criminal woman was detained with a police measure for up to 24 hours. After a report of the materials at the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office, she was charged and a measure of “detention in custody“ up to 72 hours.
In another case, on Thursday, in the capital's "Druzhba" district, the police detained another member of the active criminal contingent in front of his home - a 45-year-old Sofia man. Information was received about him that he was distributing methamphetamine throughout the entire capital city. During the personal search, two balls of methamphetamine and the amount of one thousand euros were found, and during the subsequent procedural and investigative actions, a plastic box with a white crystalline substance and the amount of about 10 thousand euros were seized in his home. The man was detained with a police measure for up to 24 hours.
We recall that in mid-February, officers from the "Border Police" General Directorate uncovered a drug laboratory in a Sofia village and two people were detained.
