A large-scale specialized police operation against bought votes is being carried out throughout the entire Sliven region. The operation, which started in the early hours of the day, aims to prevent crimes against electoral legislation before the upcoming vote, BNT reports.
By 12:00, the police had detained four people. During searches in private homes and commercial establishments in the regional center, notebooks and lists with personal data, names and addresses, as well as mobile phones, were found and seized. Three pre-trial proceedings have already been initiated in the case, and the questioning of witnesses continues.
Teams from the Regional Directorate of Internal Affairs-Sliven, the Burgas gendarmerie and representatives of the Regional Directorate for Food Safety are participating in the operation. Checkpoints have been set up at the entry and exit points of a number of settlements.
In addition to the election violations, law enforcement agencies are also reporting other violations. Four illegal sites in the “Nadezhda“ district have been closed, and a large quantity of cigarettes without a tax stamp have been seized.
Drivers with alcohol and fake licenses have been detected, and one car has been stopped from driving due to illegally installed “jars“.
The police in Sliven emphasize that the checks will remain intensive and will continue until the very end of election day.
