Iliyan Yonchev, BSP: The Bulgarian economy should work for the people, not for the middlemen - 1

“The biggest problems that we all feel today are poverty, social inequalities, rising prices and the absence of justice.“. This was stated by the leader of the list of “BSP - UNITED LEFT“ in Pleven, Iliyan Yonchev, during a pre-election debate on Darik Radio.

According to him, the BSP focuses on social justice. “A fair Bulgaria is possible – but we must also consider justice in a socio-economic perspective.“, he stressed. Yonchev also emphasized its specific dimensions – access to healthcare, education and housing, recalling the BSP's position on changing the status of state and municipal hospitals.

According to him, the current market model allows for distortions in which “intermediaries earn millions on the backs of citizens“, while producers and consumers are placed in a disadvantageous position. “Producers are squeezed and work with minimal profits, and people pay insanely high prices. This is not normal.“, he said and insisted on shorter supply chains and stronger regulation.

In economic terms, Yonchev emphasized the need for tax reform. “The flat tax has outlived its usefulness. Progressive taxation and a tax-free minimum for people with the lowest incomes are needed.“, he pointed out and added: “Millionaires should pay higher taxes - not the middle class, but the richest.“.

Regarding foreign policy, Yonchev was categorical that more transparency and parliamentary control are needed: “There should be an open dialogue and decisions should be discussed in the National Assembly, and not learned after the fact. It is absurd for a caretaker government to conclude a 10-year agreement with Ukraine behind the back of parliament.“ He called on Bulgaria to be “a peacemaker rather than a warmonger“.

Regarding the judicial system, Iliyan Yonchev expressed the BSP's support for changing the composition of the Supreme Judicial Council and the election of a new Prosecutor General. “This must happen in order to begin dismantling this system, which is like a rotten apple in our society.“, the candidate for MP was categorical.

In conclusion, Iliyan Yonchev called for support for “BSP - UNITED LEFT“: “This is the true left-wing alternative that protects people in need, offers fair solutions and has the will to deal with high prices and inequalities. Bulgaria needs justice and can have it with number 5.“.
