A total of over 3.3 tons of food without documents, with an expired shelf life or stored in violation of the law have been found by inspectors of the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) in Burgas, Sunny Beach, Ravda and Sveti Vlas. All of them will be destroyed.
Two tons of them are imitation cheeses from a company producing imitation dairy products in Burgas. Their packaging has the marking of another manufacturer of imitation products, which contradicts the requirements. Experts from the Central Directorate of BFSA have stopped the operation of the entire site in Burgas due to numerous violations. There are significant discrepancies in the building stock - cracked floors, holes, corrosion and dirt on doors, windows, wall coverings. Large quantities of unusable equipment and objects unrelated to the production process have been discovered. Labels for products that the site is not allowed to produce were also found.
During inspections at commercial sites at the Burgas market “Krasnodar”, 70 kg of mussels and fish and 60 kg of meat and dairy products were banned and directed for destruction. The mussels and fish were stored under inappropriate temperature conditions, outdoors and without flake ice. The remaining foods are without labels and without documents of origin, which does not guarantee their safety.
Acts will be drawn up against the manufacturer and traders in Burgas and prescriptions will be issued to eliminate the irregularities.
During inspections at resort complexes in Burgas, inspectors from the Regional Directorate for Food Safety (ODBH) – Stara Zagora closed five illegal sites – shops, a warehouse and unregistered catering establishments. Food products were banned in two other sites. A total of over 1.2 tons of animal feed without documents of origin, without labels or markings, or with an expired expiration date, are targeted for destruction.
The Food Safety Agency continues with the so-called cross-checks – inspectors from one region check sites in other parts of the country. In this way, local dependencies and attempts to put pressure on official control are avoided.
