June 9th or 23rd are the most likely dates for holding early parliamentary elections in our country. This became clear after a meeting of the Central Election Commission and President Rumen Radev, at which the organization of the upcoming elections for the National Assembly and the European Parliament was discussed, BNT reports.
At the meeting, CEC Chairperson Kamelia Neikova pointed out that if the parliamentary elections are one week after the European ones, this would make it almost impossible for the Central Election Commission to organize them.
For 2 in 1 elections on June 9 or a vote for the EP on the 9th and National Assembly elections on June 23, the CEC is ready.
The chairman of the commission, Kamelia Neikova, reminded that:
"If the elections are on the same date, the CEC is ready to hold them, as it held those for the president and the National Assembly in November 2021. When the two elections are on the same day, given that a lot of expenses can be saved and the voters will not have to go to the polls twice, there is no reason for us to say that it cannot happen.< br /> What is specific about 2-in-1 elections would be that citizens would have different voting rights, as there are different conditions of address for European and parliamentary elections.
"The electoral lists will be separate and the sectional electoral commissions must carefully review whether the voters are entered in both lists and then allow them to vote,'' Neikova pointed out.
