Petya Bankova and Stefan Dimitrov remain in custody: According to the court, they will not abscond, but may commit other crimes - 1

The three-member panel of the Court of Appeal - Sofia confirmed the decision of the Sofia City Court, with which Petya Bankova and Stefan Dimitrov, accused of participating in a criminal group for smuggling, money laundering, and as of yesterday, also of official crimes, were imposed a measure of remand "in custody".

This was announced by BNT.

The court is motivated by an available reasonable assumption that the two have committed the crimes they are accused of, and it has been stated that there is currently a lot of oral and written evidence collected in this direction.

The magistrates also accepted that there is no danger that the accused persons will abscond if their measures are changed, but on the other hand, due to the high public danger of the act, it is possible that the two will commit other crimes. Apart from that, the state of health of both detained persons allows their stay in the pre-trial detention, the court accepted.

The determination of the CAS is final and is not subject to appeal or protest.
