Our goal is to stop Delyan Peevski from reloading his influence in the prosecution, services, judiciary and regulators. This is the goal of the PP-DB and this is what we offer to the voters. This opinion was expressed by the leader of “Yes, Bulgaria” Hristo Ivanov in an interview with BNR.
„This is the fundamental question for the functioning of the Republic. It's the return of Empire of Fear. The next edition of this system will be much more brutal than 2017, Ivanov warned.
„ GERB must decide whether they will be with Peevski, who conducts operations for them, attends meetings of their Executive Committee, accustoms them. GERB to choose where they will be. With the draft agreement, we have defined for what purpose we would support a government. GERB and all political forces should choose whether they will be Peevski's tools to strengthen his state1 or we will continue efforts to uproot the state”, the co-chairman of “Democratic Bulgaria” repeated his warning.
And he stated that in the coalition “we are united in every respect on the problem and in the need to implement the next package of reforms and personnel changes in the agreement”.
He specified that the name of “unbuttoning the state“ will talk to all political forces and "opened the door" to BSP and IT.
About the constitutional changes, Ivanov stated that the PP-DB offered a simpler option: "I don't think it is appropriate to ask the question that there is some mistake and that someone should admit it. We have a new toolkit, which is of a certain complexity, but if applied in good faith, can solve the problems for a new political system as well. We proposed a simpler option - that the caretaker government be part of the regular government at the moment and reappointed by presidential decree."
He explained that the changes “are committed to finding a balance in the triangle - parliament, prime minister candidate and president“: "A balance is needed in a crisis situation in order to hold fair and neutral elections. Neither Radev, nor Glavchev, nor a large part of the political forces understand that this balance must be sought."
According to Ivanov, the president has formally conducted the consultations to form an official cabinet and that is why the PP-DB have left.
„The president says he is consulting, but he had no authority to comment on the ministers. And he admits to the composition of this office a representative of the prosecutor's office, given that this is the body that is trying to actively campaign against the draft Law on Judicial Power. Why is it possible for the external, but not for the internal? Because the holding of elections depends on the internal one, Hristo Ivanov emphasized.
And he added: "I did not make the rules for the constitutional changes, we proposed another model, which was rejected by GERB and DPS. This model has positives, but the problem is that there is a norm of irresponsible behavior in the situation, instead of applying the tools of searching for balance. They think they have to exercise power personally, that's what we're seeing right now. This model, if implemented in good faith, will benefit us as citizens because there should not be centers that concentrate power as the president did before. And Peevski is trying to maintain his influence. We as a society must run away from models that concentrate power and move towards those that share power among the political forces in the National Assembly and no one should take power alone. It is about an overall philosophy. We criticize the president because he had to take on the role of mediator."
The leader of “Yes, Bulgaria“ stated that “if the chief secretary Zhivko Kotsev has allowed any of what is being attributed to him - inappropriate relationships and lifestyle, gifts or connections with some people from smuggling channels, he will answer to the court”.
„Our problem is fundamental. All of this started to come out after the campaign started. Why weren't the documents released until now? It is taken out in a way that is clearly reminiscent of a selective leak of protocols from the prosecutor's office," Ivanov pointed out.
