GDBOP employees detained two of their supposed "colleagues"

Two people were detained during a specialized police operation conducted by GDBOP officers in Sofia.

The action was reached after a report was filed by a representative of a commercial company about the requested amount of BGN 5,000.

In return for this money, he was promised that “led developments“ in GDBOP. In the course of the investigation, it was established that the man was misled that his phones were tapped and he was the subject of “other intelligence tools” and checks related to financial and tax crimes.

The detained men are 53 and 43 years old, from Sofia. They were arrested after taking the requested 5,000 BGN.

After a report of the materials in the Sofia District Prosecutor's Office, the two were charged.

By decree of the prosecutor, the accused are detained for a period of up to 72 hours, and a request is yet to be submitted to the Sofia District Court for a measure of remand “retention in custody”.
