Prof. Nikolay Vitanov becomes deputy minister

Acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev appointed with his Order of Tanya Mihailova and Academician Prof. Nikolay Vitanov for Deputy Ministers of Education and Science.

Who are they

Tanya Mihailova is a long-time teacher of general technical and vocational training and current director of the National Vocational High School for Precision Engineering and Optics "M. V. Lomonosov" in Sofia. She was Deputy Minister of Education and Science from 2017 to 2021.

Acad. Prof. Nikolay Vitanov has been a member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences since 2021. From 2015 to 2023, he was the vice-rector for research and scientific project activities at the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski“. His scientific interests are related to quantum informatics, quantum mechanics, quantum optics, computers, sensors, etc.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, he became particularly popular for his calculations and prediction of the development of the disease.
