After an exhibition in Dubai, the museum copy of the Panagyur Golden Treasure will be displayed in the Archaeological Museum in Burgas.

It will be exhibited in the “Tresor“ of the Archaeological Museum in Burgas on "Aleko Bogoridi" Blvd. #21 from May 18 to August 30.

"This is the only museum copy – a complete analogue of the original, made of pure 23-karat gold. The objects are the property of the National History Museum in Sofia, which kindly provided the opportunity for the people of Burgas to enjoy this most exquisite and rich Thracian treasure," said the director of the Regional History Museum, Milen Nikolov, for Flagman.bg.

Here are all 9 gold items, with a total weight of 6300 kg. – rhytons, cani-rhytons, an amphora and a phial. The original does not leave the National History Museum.

The Panagyurishte treasure was discovered in 1949, 2 km from Panagyurishte. Today, it is considered that this treasure is from the end of IV - beginning of in the 3rd century BC, and belonged to a Thracian king from the Odris tribe, participating in religious ceremonies.

The vessels have different images. A number of ancient Greek deities and heroes are represented – Hera, Athena, Aphrodite, Apollo, Artemis, Dionysus, Silenus, Nike, Heracles, Theseus, Paris, the bacchanal Eriope. There are images of winged sphinxes and Amazons. The phial from the treasure is decorated with African heads.

The Panagyur treasure is the most famous Thracian treasure. It has toured in Rome, Paris, Munich, London, USA, Japan, Sweden and many others. etc. The exhibition is part of the RIM program – Burgas for the Night of the Museums on May 18, and is jointly organized by the Burgas Museum and the Municipality of Burgas.
