Chenchev: Remove from the National Theater the anti-Bulgarian play, which tramples on the exploits of the Bulgarian army - 1

„Remove from the program of the National Theater the anti-Bulgarian play based on the production of Bernard Shaw "The Weapons and the Man" - it is unacceptable on the Bulgarian stage to trample on the feat of the Bulgarian army, the self-sacrifice of the heroes from Slivnitsa and the Bulgarian national dignity”.
This is stated in a letter to the Minister of Culture Nayden Todorov and the director of the National Theater Vasil Vassilev the People's Representative from the "BSP for Bulgaria" and member of the Culture and Media Committee in the 49th National Assembly, Ivan Chenchev. He announced that he submitted the letter to the Ministry of Culture on Monday morning, the press center of the left informed.
I call on you, Mr. Minister, for the Bulgarian state to take immediate action and stop the play that humiliates the Bulgarian nation, which gave the world an alphabet and writing that achieved a strong spiritual flourishing during the Renaissance – to represent a nation that has no idea what a book is and that has only one library. A play that cynically tramples the exploits of the Bulgarian army during the Bulgarian-Serbian war of 1885, tramples the exploits of the heroes who defended the Union and resisted the onslaught of the outnumbered and outgunned Serbian army, thus saving the young Bulgarian country.
It is cynical in the theater that bears the name of Vazov and that still keeps the chair on which the Patriarch of Bulgarian literature sat - to stage a play that reviles what he sang in the “New cemetery above Slivnitsa”.< /strong> “Bulgaria, they died for you, one was worthy of you for their sake, and they were worthy of you, mother. And they died without fear just by speaking your name!“ – after these words of the Patriarch of Bulgarian literature, there should not be a Bulgarian who would allow the memory of our heroes and ancestors, who defended Bulgaria at the Slivnica redoubts, to be reviled, even on the stage of the National Theatre.
„BSP, we are categorically opposed to any attempts to insult and change Bulgarian history, and to erase our national memory. Remove the play "Ivan Vazov" from the autumn program of the National Theater and do not allow it to be performed on the Bulgarian stage, urged Ivan Chenchev.
