The new Bulgarian Patriarch Daniil said in the program "Panorama" on BNT, that the Bulgarian Orthodox Church has always been with its people and supports them in difficulties. In his words, the church testifies to the impermanent things.
"The role of the church is precisely to show people that there is a way. If the political crisis reaches a dead end and no understanding can be reached, the church always points to this path, which is to the kingdom of God. The Lord has told us: Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and everything else will be translated to you", declared Patriarch Daniel.
"To love God and your neighbor - this is the problem before every person,", he also said.
When asked if he was on the side of Russia, the Patriarch gave a clear answer: "If we proceed from the principle of philanthropy, we will be on the side of all people! Then we will not allow them to divide us into philies and phobes!".
State power cannot solve the main problems of man, which are connected with the meaning of human life, with the salvation of the human soul, and the church has shown that there is no alternative in this regard.
"The civil servant, the chief is God's servant, with this ministry he is busy day and night. Because it is useful for everyone to have law and order in the state, in the society in which we live, and the responsibility for this lies with the rulers," he said.
The Patriarch noted that he respects other people's opinions. According to him, when there is a dialogue, there is a sincere desire to reach the truth and things happen.
"I respect everyone's personal opinion. When there is a danger that this opinion will cause harm to the person himself, I do not remain indifferent, but I talk and explain why and where, in my opinion, there is a problem," he said.
Patriarch Daniel also emphasized that interaction between state and church authorities is necessary in all spheres.
"Among Orthodox Christians there are people from all political parties with different opinions, but what can bring us together is not everyone seeking their own righteousness. Our human justice is to some extent, it is largely a crime," he declared.
There is faith in the soul of many Bulgarians, Patriarch Daniil is confident. "Where there is alienation and pessimism - this is due to sin. Sin works in this way to turn us away from God, to discourage us, to stop us on this path. When there are relationships between us of humanity, responsibility, care for each other, it will inevitably bring God's paradise into our souls and it will become visible around us as well.
