A clip appeared on social networks showing a driver, with a lady next to him, driving at over 230 km/h in the "Railway" tunnel. The speed limit in the two-kilometer facility is 80 km/h.
When the facility was unveiled, it was announced that there would be over 100 video cameras inside. However, it turns out that none of them detect speed.
„It enters the tunnel at 220-230 km/h. Towards the middle, it is noticed that a black SUV overtakes him inside, but apparently at a lower speed, because the driver who filmed the clip has to slow down to 180 km/h. Then it accelerates again to 250 km/h. At that speed, a lot of bad things can happen. In a fraction of a second, if the trajectory of the car changes, there can be serious accidents, with many victims," said Georgi Burzakov from the National Association for the Qualification of Drivers on Nova TV.
In the event of an explosion, the entire tunnel will smoke in seconds, the expert also explains.
