The Council of Ministers of Bulgaria approved additional expenditures of BGN 200 million under the budget of the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works (MRRD ) for the year 2024. The funds will cover outstanding obligations of the "Road Infrastructure" Agency. for completed but unpaid activities under contracts for maintenance of the republican road network.
These liabilities, accumulated in recent years, have resulted in significant interest. Funding will be provided through expenditure restructuring and/or transfers from the central budget for 2024.
"With the adoption of the decree, it is possible to make payments of undisputed amounts owed," said the government announcement.
This will prevent additional financial burdens on the state budget arising from claims for penalties, interest and legal costs by contractors.
