The Court of Appeal confirmed the election of Vasil Terziev as Mayor of Sofia - 1

The Sofia Administrative Court confirmed the decision of the Sofia Municipal Commission, by which Vasil Terziev was in favor elected mayor of Sofia after the runoff.

The second round of elections in the capital was on November 5, 2023

Then Terziev defeated BSP candidate Vanya Grigorova and 175,044 ballots were cast for him.

The court started the case on Vanya Grigorova's complaint about the election of the mayor of Sofia

That's 46.89% of the actual votes.

Immediately after the vote, Grigorova appealed the election in court, claiming that the election was stolen from her. “I will be the first to congratulate Vasil Terziev, if the court decides that these results and the manner in which they were achieved are legal,” said the BSP candidate for capital mayor.

In the course of the case, an expertise was appointed, which had to compare the data from the machines with the verification of the protocols of all 1,639 polling stations in Sofia. Thus, it was necessary to determine whether there was a violation of the protocols, how many and what the corrections were, and whether there were discrepancies between the protocols and the memories of the machines. The results of the examination showed that in the end the elected mayor Terziev was more damaged than his main opponent when counting the ballots from the machine voting. The experts' conclusion was that Terziev was damaged by 832 votes, and Grigorova – with 282.

However, the decision is not final and is subject to appeal before the Supreme Administrative Court.
