Veselin Vuchkov: It is unacceptable for 7,000 pensioners to work in the Ministry of Internal Affairs - 1

The fire in the village of Senokos is raging dangerously close to houses. At the same time, a fire broke out at the "Koren" military training ground. near Haskovo.

"Prevention is primarily talked about and little is done. The human factor and protective equipment of firefighters is important. It is better not to justify ourselves with the laws, but to see what did not work and to learn the concrete lessons, said the former Minister of the Interior Veselin Vuchkov in the program "The Day ON AIR".

Reforms are needed
In his words, in Bulgaria, we are governed not so much by the parliament as by decrees from the parliament, and the executive power does not have its own independent decisions. According to him, it is a reasonable decision that helicopters and aircraft equipment should be in the patrimony of the Ministry of Defense, and not in the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
When asked whether the demand for the resignation of Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov is reasonable, Vuchkov replied that in such a high political position, one must have a high level of tolerance for criticism - professional and political.

"There will be requests for resignations on a daily basis for all kinds of reasons. A clearly drawn political line between political and professional leadership would be helpful. The interior minister must push reform policies", Vuchkov told Bulgaria ON AIR.

They raise salaries in the Ministry of the Interior
He noted that after the New Year, the budget in the Ministry of the Interior will increase very seriously - no less than BGN 600 million, because they have pledged to increase the salaries of all employees.

"The question is how this budget will be spent meaningfully. It is unacceptable for 7,000 pensioners to work in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and receive both a pension and a salary. The Ministry of the Interior is gradually and surely turning into a small subdivision of the National Social Security Institute, the "Pensions" unit. This is a gross organizational error. The knife is close to the bone and difficult decisions will have to be made. It is necessary to change the relevant laws,", Vuchkov emphasized.
