"Vazrazhdane" sought assistance from the Russian embassy in Bulgaria in the case of Milan Dimitrov - 1

Today the people's representatives of “Vazrazhdane” - Angel Georgiev and Emil Yankov, Dimitar Dimitrov - father and Alexander Dimitrov - brother of Milan Dimitrov, visited the embassy of the Russian Federation in Bulgaria.

We remind you that Milan Dimitrov is a Bulgarian who was accused and unjustly detained in a prison in Greece with a request from the USA for his extradition. The accusations against him are unfounded, the documents in his case were signed by a secretary, not a judge or a prosecutor, he is accused of espionage, but there is no evidence to support this thesis.

After the Bulgarian state showed absolute inaction regarding the case of the unjustly detained Bulgarian, “Revival“ today they sought assistance from the Russian diplomatic mission, as Milan Dimitrov has Bulgarian and Russian citizenship.

From “Revival“ point out that the lack of support from Bulgaria necessitates seeking the assistance of the Russian state. After the meeting, it becomes clear that the Russian diplomatic mission is aware of the whole case, the situation and the wrongful accusations against Milan Dimitrov, and they have declared their readiness to cooperate so that a fair trial can be carried out for our compatriot, left to the discretion of American justice. ready to sentence him to 80 years in prison.

Angel Georgiev from “Vazrazhdane“ points out that before the assistance of the diplomatic mission of Russia was sought, a number of meetings were held with the representatives of the Bulgarian diplomatic institutions, who did not engage in the case in any way, although Milan Dimitrov has been in a Greek prison for the second year, threatened with be extradited to the US to face life in prison. Georgiev recalled that Milan Dimitrov was wrongfully accused, on charges framed against him, thus becoming a hostage of the geopolitical interests of the American state.

He was accused of dealing in illegal electronic components, which were later found to be off the list of prohibited military electronic components, as they were found to be unfit for military use.

According to Angel Georgiev, the specific case is a precedent, since the order for the detention of Milan Dimitrov is based on the Interpol bulletin, in which Bulgaria is not included, which is why Milan Dimitrov is detained abroad. In this way, it opens up the possibility that such precedents will become a practice and that every Bulgarian, going abroad, will be arrested without knowing that he is wanted, due to the fact that Bulgaria is deliberately not included in the list of countries.
