Eng. Emil Panchev: Whether the car has successfully passed the inspection is not determined by the GTP station - 1

Many cars cannot pass the mandatory annual inspection health check. The problem for this is not in the new rules, but in the automation of the process itself. This is the reason why petrol cars do not meet the necessary criteria. The acting minister of transport, Georgi Gvozdeikov, proposes that the harmful emissions of exhaust gases should not be classified as dangerous. We are already working on the idea that those who fail the inspection will have more time to fix the problems. How are these changes accepted by the drivers and what do the Union of Bulgarian Motorists think about the matter? The topic in “The NOVA News Interview” commented the chairman of the Union, engineer Emil Panchev.

And explained the GTP technology. "When cars are inspected, they are tested with an electronic device - smoke meter or gas meter. A hose is put in their exhaust, from where to get the results. After 30 seconds, the results, namely how much carbon oxides there are, are read by a red or green light. This indicates that the results are already in DAI and - either it is recognized that the examination has passed or it has not passed. I.e. this is not determined by the point where you went with the car," the expert said categorically.

"We all know that more than 70% of cars in Bulgaria are over 15 years old. Over 30 percent are cars that are over 20 years old. This is a rather alarming figure. However, the truth is that some of the well-maintained old cars pass the inspection without a problem," he stressed.
