The political scientist and expert on European politics Dr. Ivan Nachev commented on the topic of European politics and Bulgaria's place in it through the prism of the candidates for the next Bulgarian European Commissioner - Ekaterina Zaharieva and Julian Popov.
Here is what he shared for the viewers of Euronews Bulgaria:
I positively assess both proposals for a Bulgarian European Commissioner, as well as a large part of the process itself. For the first time there was some general idea of who the candidates would be, there were meetings with the Prime Minister… Until now, there has been no such transparent process. On the contrary, most often we have learned from the media who will be – and was always a single candidate.
In this case, in my opinion, it was important to be heard by the National Assembly. First, there is a caretaker government that broadcasts the candidates. And secondly, there really should have been some political will (…) to make it clear that major political formations support these two candidacies.
