Radev and Mitsotakis open an energy forum in the Bulgarian pavilion at COP29 in Baku

Energy connectivity between European countries and the promotion of renewable energy production and storage will be discussed

President Rumen Radev will open today an energy forum in the Bulgarian pavilion at COP29 in Baku together with the Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the press office of the head of state announced, citing from BTA.

At the event, the energy connectivity between European countries and the promotion of the production and storage of energy from renewable energy sources (RES) will be discussed. On a Bulgarian initiative, an intention to accelerate cooperation in this area will be declared together with other countries.

The event is jointly organized by the presidential administration and the Ministry of Energy of Bulgaria. Acting Minister of Energy Vladimir Malinov will host the event. The forum will present a non-binding policy-oriented document to promote regional partnerships and initiatives in the field of renewable energy and new energy technologies.

Earlier in the day, at the invitation of the Greek Prime Minister, Bulgarian Head of State Rumen Radev will participate in an event at the Greek pavilion at COP29, dedicated to the development of the Vertical Gas Corridor. Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, Romania, Moldova and Slovakia participate in the initiative to diversify the sources and routes for transferring additional amounts of gas from the south to the north. Vladimir Malinov will also participate in the event.

The program of the Bulgarian pavilion at SOR29 throughout the day is dedicated to energy and the green transition.

The Climate Summit continues at COP29 in Baku. The program of the Azerbaijani presidency foresees a high-level event today to promote efforts to triple nuclear energy.
