About Tension between two protesting groups in Simitli, BNT reported.
Protest and counter-protest created tension in the city center earlier today.
After the start of the pre-announced protest against the mayor of the Simitli municipality on the one hand and a counter-protest in his support on the other, tensions between the different groups of people came to a head.
However, a direct clash between the protesters did not occur thanks to the intervention of the police and gendarmerie officers who guarded the two protests.
According to initial information, the tension came about because of offensive qualifications exchanged between protesters from different groups and the throwing of eggs.
The employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the spot, however, managed to contain the tension until the two protesting groups dispersed.
Currently the situation in Simitli is calm.
