Journalist Margarita Mikhneva has died at the age of 72. She passed away in a clinic in Geneva, Switzerland, reported Focus agency, quoted by BNT.
She has been battling cancer for many years.
She was born on April 21, 1952 in Sofia. In 1974, she graduated from Sofia State University with a degree in law. After graduating, she was assigned as a prosecutor in Targovishte, but did not practice law.
She entered a competition at BNT for an editor – presenter of the then Second Program (Efir 2).
In 1975, she started working in television and did her first journalistic investigation.
She actively participated in the campaign of the so-called “Revival Process“ with reports from the border during the ethnic cleansing in the summer of 1989.
From 1992 to 1999, she wrote her column “Conflicts“.
Over the years, she has worked at both bTV and Nova TV.
She is one of the doyens of investigative journalism in Bulgaria.
